PRACTICAL NURSING - Diploma
The Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare students to take the NCLEX-PN
State Board Examination for licensure as practical nurses. The program prepares graduates to give
competent nursing care. This is done through a selected number of academic and occupational courses
providing a variety of techniques and materials necessary to assist the student in acquiring the
needed knowledge and skills to give competent care. A variety of clinical experiences are planned
so that theory and practice are integrated under the guidance of the clinical instructor. Program
graduates receive a practical nursing diploma and have the qualifications of an entry level
practical nurse.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
* Must be 17 years of age
* Official high school or GED transcript is required
to apply
* Achievement of minimum program admission
scores in Reading, Language, and Math
* Transfer of previous post secondary credits will be
determined by the registrar.
* Successful completion of and adherence to all guidelines and courses within the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) curriculum.
Note:Student Performance/Graduation Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average and complete all required courses to graduate.

Graduates of the Practical
Nursing program are permitted to sit for the NCLEX/PN (licensing exam).
*Practical Nursing Students: (A cumulative grade point
average of 2.5 in nursing program courses is required for graduation. Students who fail NPT and/or NSG corequisite courses wil be
required to retake both courses in the same course number series. (Example: NPT 112, 113, 212, 213, 215 and NSG 112,
